Safety Tips For Thunderstorms Or Tornados

Today, we had a thunderstorm, so I thought I'd write about how to stay safe in them or tornadoes.

1. Stay indoors.
2. Go in the middle of the building, away from windows, doors or trees.
3. Put all of your belongings (blongens) you really need or want in the stove, washing machine, dryer, cabinets, dishwasher or anything that is attached to the wall.
4. Unplug everything in your house.
5. Don't talk on the phone. Cell phones are okey-dokey.
6. You can also lie down in the bathtub.
7. Make sure you don't have anything outside that can blow away.
8. Get out candles and flashlights at night. Be careful not to burn the house down with the candles.
9. If you're in your car, don't drive into a tornado.
10. Try not to be on the toilet when it's thunderstorming. It's not a very nice place to die.

Luna Moth

Last night, my dad caught a female Luna Moth. She looks like a leaf. Her name is Luna. My dad put it in the little catcher thing you get in that Butterfly Treehouse kit. My cat is rolling on the floor, whacking the net trying to play with her.

I want to tell you about Luna Moths. They turn into adults after they are in cocoons. They only live for another week. Adults don't eat. And to tell if it's a girl, then it has a fat belly which is full of eggs. They are called "luna" because it means moon and they fly around at night.

Meow Luau!

Come to the SPCA of Wake County or the PetsMart on Capital or Millbrook in Raleigh. The SPCA has too many cats, so they are 50% off, Saturday. If you want a cat or a kitten or a couple of them, they're on clearance. Go to the SPCA of Wake County or those PetsMarts to see them in person and pet their little heads. Go to the website to see them online: http://www.spcawake.org/site/MessageViewer?em_id=3681.0. Or go to youtube to see them some of them do the hula: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KsjhPtfpvE .

If you don't have a cat, here are some good reasons to get one. You should get one - they're cute, sweet and teach you to have a good responsibility. If you have a snake problem, get a cat - they scare them off. If you're lonely, get a cat - cat's are the best pals and pets ever.

Meow!

Kate & Allie

I watch a TV show called "Kate & Allie". Here is what happened today on "Kate & Allie".

It was spring cleaning day. Chip was lonely and Kate and Allie were cleaning. His friends were busy and Jenny and Emma were putting on make-up. So, Chip did a trick. He poured ketchup on his shirt and stuck a spatula in his armpit to look like he was stabbed. Kate and Allie came in. Allie pulled out the spatula and said "Chip no more jokes. Go up to your room and wash your shirt." He looked out his window and saw a man give a lady some shoes. Then Allie called "Chip have you washed your shirt yet?" Chip ran into the bathroom, pulled off his shirt, put water on it and threw it into the hamper. Then he put all kinds of medicine in the toilet. It bubbled up and spilled over the sides. Kate and Allie yelled at him. He watched out his window again, but with binoculars to stare at the man and woman again. The man pulled out a dagger and went to the woman who was sleeping. Chip told Allie, who did not believe him. He tried to call 911, but Allie stopped him. Emma and Jenny came and watched out the window with Chip. Chip went down to to get the apartment number off the apartment, because the guy now wiped blood off the dagger. Jenny and Emma saw Chip. He was in the murderer's apartment. They ran downstairs to get their moms. Allie screamed when she saw Chip at the apartment with the murderer. The murderer was actually just a magician. He did a trick. Allie was very scared and yelled at Chip. Then she told him about the boy who cried wolf, when he got home.

I love this show. It's so funny, because they do a lot of crazy things. I think it's hilarious. I can't wait to watch it tomorrow.

Biscuit

Yesterday, I had enough money to buy Biscuit the "Furreal Friends - My Lovin' Pup". His is like a real dog. He is a golden retriever. He is as big as my real Boston Terrier and maybe a little bit bigger and smarter. He comes with a bone he chomps, a collar, a brush and a birth certificate. Mine did not come with a bone and a birth certificate. My dad called the company Hasbro to get a bone and birth certificate. Hasbro was very nice and are sending me a bone and birth certificate. Biscuit responds to these commands: lie down, give me a paw, shake, sit, sit up and beg, Do you want a treat?, and speak. I found Biscuit another treat for now. He is chomping on it. This is the greatest toy ever!

Apollo II

40 years ago today, Apollo II landed on the moon. The astronauts were the first people on the moon. Neil Armstrong was the very first person to step on the moon. America beat the Russians, who had beaten us a million, cajillion times in space stuff. Everybody watched on TV. I bet it was really cool.

Since it's been 40 years, they should go up again. Then, I can watch it on TV. And it will be very cool.

The Best Game Ever!

Remember "Hotel For Dogs"? Well, guess what?!? There is a game that is based on the movie free online. It's great! You can pick a dog. In the selection list is: Friday, Cooper, Shep, Georgia and Lenny. You can play with your dog choice in one of these games: Wash Dog; Play Fetch; Vend A Shoe; Feeding Time; Catch A Breeze or Supply Store (earn points to use to buy things for your dog.)

The games take place in a cartoon version of the hotel in Hotel for Dogs. The game does things exactly like in the movie. I better hurry, I need to play this game again! Here it is: http://www.nick.com/games/movie_games/hotel-for-dogs-doggie.jhtml

Fennec Fox

The Fennec Fox is adorable. It is the only fox you can keep as a pet. I really want one. It weighs up to 3.3 pounds. It grows up to 16 inches long, plus a long tail of 10 inches makes it 26 inches. I think they look like a cat and a dog together. It makes a noise like a dog and a bird together. It is an animal from the African desert that eats plants, animals and insects. They will still have wild habits. You can not housebreak them. They also try to build a nest inside your furniture to store food.

My dad needs to buy me one. In the picture, it looks like you can stack 'em to store 'em.
(Pictures were found on the internet.)

3. Starburst - This is block- (or square-) shaped chewy candy, also in fruity flavors.
4. Reese's Pieces - They are peanut butter-filled shells.
5. Dum-Dum Suckers - These are different kinds of blends and flavored suckers.
6. Lifesavers - Lifesavers are doughnut-shaped sucking candy in all kinds of flavors. My favorite flavor is orange.
7. Hot Tamales - This is cinnamon-y, red-hot candy. (My dad loves it, too.)
8. Nerds - Nerds are like little fruity delicous crumbs.
9. Pop Rocks - They're popping, little fruity dots. They jump when they're wet. I hate them on ice cream!
10. Laffy Taffy - I like Laffy Taffy, especially strawberry and banana. It is strips of fruity taffy.

Smile

This was Michael Jackson's favorite song called "Smile". It was written by Charlie Chaplin from a movie from the 1930's. It made my mom cry. Here are the lyrics:

Smile
Smile, though your heart is aching
Smile, even though it’s breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
You’ll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come shining through
For you
Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile what’s the use of crying
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you’ll just
Smile

I like it.

Fireworks Freaks

On Independence Day, we went to the State Fairgrounds to watch some fireworks. There were some geeky nerds there throwing a football and a frisbee in front of cars in the street. Then there was an old lady that we called "Grandma" who stayed in the car while the others in her family went and sat on a bench. She scooted into each of the seats (in the car) to try which one was best. She was sitting backwards to the fireworks. Someone in her family came and got her out. And there was this kid who was not being good. He was screaming and then ran and laid in the road. His mom came and pulled him up, over and over again. He started throwing a temper tantrum. Then his mom lifted him up on the roof of of her car, handed him a Sprite and a sparkler. We gave her the sparklers.

The big final fireworks weren't very good. But as we watched the fireworks, two trains went by. I bet it was fun to watch them from the train. I love the times when they shoot off smiley faces in the fireworks. I love fireworks. They're cool!

Everyone tried to leave at the same time. They were very impatient. We sat in the back of the truck and waited and watched. It was so stupid!

Independence Day

Today is Independence Day - the day that George Washington and some other important men signed "The Declaration of Independence." They signed it to say that the United States of America would not be part of Great Britain. The USA is 233 years old, today.

I'm proud to be an American, because we can all live free. A lot of soldiers fought in that war and other wars and a bunch of them died to protect our freedom. Happy Birthday United States of America!

What did the stars and stripes on the flag say to each other?
They're looking at us, so let's wave! Ha, Ha.

Dog Cooking Tips By Chef Bone

This is Chef Bone. He is giving tips to dogs on how to cook.

1. Be careful not to burn yourself. A stove can set your fur on fire!
2. Let your master deal with the stove.
3. Don't put too much pepper on your dog food. It will make you lick your lips for a couple of hours.

Here are some names of foods I make that are popular: Chicken Bone Soup, Turkey Taters and Beef Tots. I also put a lot of "pup"rika in my recipes and sometimes I get hair in my food - sorry. I love to pat out dough with my paws, front and back. I also love to lick the bowl when I am done. That's all for today, dawgs! "Bone" Appetit!

(She made up a story to go with a photo found on the internet.)

Oil Spills

When oil tankers go to sea, they may crash and leak oil. Then birds or any animal in the water can get oil on them and die. Rescuers go and rescue them and they clean them with a little Dawn dish soap. Don't try to rescue one yourself. You would not know what to do and it could die.

If a bird gets oil on it, it's feathers get matted (malted) together. Then, it cuts off their ability to swim, float and stay warm or cold. They have to have their feathers laying a certain way. Then, they pick and eat off a tiny bit of the oil, because they really want it gone. It messes up their body. It is very sad, because they can die if their feathers aren't just right.

You can go and buy Dawn soap (enter a code from the bottle to donate a dollar: http://www.dawn-dish.com/en_US/savingwildlife/dhlanding.do ) or just give online and you could help an animal. Or you can go on the rescue site and donate: http://www.ibrrc.org/oil_affects.html

Here is a message to the people spilling oil: CUT IT OUT!

(Watch the great new Dawn commercial here: http://www.dawn-dish.com/en_US/savingwildlife/video.do )
